Review: This book is twofold: 1) a history book about Eleanor Roosevelt’s life and leadership including the struggles and challenges she overcame along the way, and 2) a book about leadership with examples of other female leaders utilizing the same principles Eleanor displayed. It also encompasses cliff notes along the way at the end of each chapter (Eleanor’s Way) and inspiring quotes to outline the themes at the beginning of each chapter. It was historically exciting to read how Eleanor made great strides for women in leadership positions using many of the same principles in current leadership training. She set herself apart through her humanitarianism by fighting for social justice beginning in the United States and culminating in her development of the United Nation’s Declaration of Human Rights. Eleanor’s success came through her risk taking and visionary approach to networking and working within a “man’s world” as the First Lady of the United States.
